International supplier

Zumtobel Group AG is a leading global provider of comprehensive professional lighting solutions with a distribution network covering 90 countries. The group offers a broad range of high quality LED luminaires and lighting management systems for professional lighting of buildings, in particular in offices, educational institutions and industrial facilities. For more than 60 years, the company has been based in Vorarlberg, Austria. It is listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange.

“For several quarters, both our research and development team and our operating team, as part of their involvement in the company’s business development initiatives, have been intensifying their efforts aimed at validating our technology. The Zumtobel Group is another partner, after Fulham Co., with whom we have signed agreements for both the use of the Silvair Lighting Firmware and the Commissioning Tool. Our partner offers a broad range of high quality LED luminaires and lighting management systems for professional lighting of buildings, in particular in offices, healthcare centers, culture and arts institutions and industrial facilities.

The market for smart lighting control systems is in a strong upward trend. The first commercial solutions in this area, based on the Internet of Things idea, appeared around 5 years ago. Our partners have been consistently confirming the growing requirements of clients who reach out for lighting solutions that satisfy the highest ergonomic, economic and ecological standards, namely those that reconcile the quality of light with the concept of energy efficiency. The solution offered by Silvair, based on the Bluetooth mesh standard, has the potential to enable this progress,” says Rafał Han, President of Silvair.

Under the newly signed contract, Silvair has granted the Zumtobel Group a non-exclusive license to use the Silvair Firmware and will provide access to and ensure maintenance of the Silvair Platform in the Zumtobel Group’s lighting solutions.

The Zumtobel Group is required to make payments for activated products only (i.e. for firmware with an activating code) in accordance with the terms and conditions specified in the contract.

At the same time, Silvair has undertaken to provide, operate and maintain a digital tool for designing, configuring and commissioning smart lighting networks (commissioning) and to provide related services. For its part, the Zumtobel Group has undertaken to provide access to, sell and market tools to configure smart lighting networks and to cooperate with Silvair in the use of lighting devices and components compatible with the Bluetooth mesh technology.

Silvair offers its products on the global market, with special focus on the United States and Western European markets. The Company’s revenues come from the sale of the Silvair Lighting Firmware, from fees for configuration of the lighting infrastructure and subscription fees for provision of services under the Silvair Platform (network monitoring and management or additional IoT services).

The Company’s market of smart lighting systems is a subset of the market for Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, a concept in which system elements gather, process and exchange data through over the web. According to the report entitled “Worldwide Semiannual Internet of Things Spending Guide” prepared by IDC analysts, the global Internet of Things market in 2020 will be already worth USD 1.5 billion. According to the report entitled Smart Lighting Market - Global Forecast to 2022 (MarketsandMarkets), the smart lighting market will reach the level of USD 15.6 bn in 2022 (from USD 3 bn in 2016) and the number of delivered devices will increase from 26.8 million in 2016 to 1.27 billion in 2022.
